I haven't posted here in awhile because there isn't much to say- we're still waiting and the uncertainty has been incredibly frustrating. Today, it's been 5 weeks since we said "yes" to our youth. We've been asking our social worker daily about updates and were told yesterday that there's a chance our child will have to wait the 120 days stipulated in Trump's latest travel ban. Our child's security clearances weren't complete by March 16th and thus, he may fall under the 120 day ban on refugee resettlement. We're feeling it all: anger, frustration, confusion, impatience, and overwhelmingly disheartened.
We're exploring other options, such as fostering through a slightly different program which places youth without resolved immigration status. These children and youth are currently in detention facilities in Texas and have crossed the border from Central America. David and I are taking some time to think through our options and decide which foster program is best for us at this point. Send good vibes our way, we need it!
